3 Jars of Peanut Butter

destination: sand dunes

yesterday, my dad and i were walking to the bakery when he pointed to a staircase on the side of the hill (viña and valpo are cities of hills that would put even san francisco to shame). he told me that he once ran three laps up the stairs and around the backside of the hill. three? i can do more than that. five. i probably can do five…

no. i cannot. turns out i can do one. and only if i stop halfway up to re-inflate my right lung. after that huge hit to my pride this morning, i was about ready to hang up my shoes and crisply pressed sports bras and never run again. unfortunately, rumor has it that the girls who live with my family usually gain 10 kilos during the course of the semester. i don’t even want to know what that is in pounds.

chile doesn’t have copyright laws. the result? seven seasons of House M.D. at my fingertips. but instead of sitting in bed watching hours of house’s absurdly politically incorrect remarks, saturday i went on an adventure with a few friends. we hopped on a micro, headed north, and were dropped off on the side of the highway. after a successful game of frogger across the busy street (avoid the cars, not jump on them mom), we found ourselves at the base of mountains of sand. sandboarding anyone? sledding is so much better when it doesn’t involve cold, wet snow and trees.

i love getting mail. my sister and i used to fight over who got to retrieve it from the box. and emails too. that little red number over my mail icon is the best. if you find yourself close to a computer or a mailbox between now and december 17th, feel free to send a few words my way. you can reach me at
